Top Stitching Back Neck Facing - Signature Box Top

Pin Neck facing so it is flush with back bodice. Make sure shoulder seams match. Stitch along back neck facing 1/8 from edge of neck facing. Start and end at shoulder seams. Press back neck facing flat.

Understitching Front Neckline - Signature Box Top

Understitching can create a more polished look for necklines, and can help prevent a neck facing from shifting out of place.   Finger press the seam allowance up towards the neck facing. This is in preparation to stitch the neck facing to the seam allowance. Make sure the seam allowance is pressed towards neck facing. Pin right side of neckline facing to right sides of bodice neckline. Match shoulder seams, and place center front at fold. Pin as needed. Signature Box Top - Sewing Shoulders/Finishing Edges of Neck Facing

Place shoulder seams of front and back neck facings right side together. Pin as needed. Note this step does not attach to shoulder seams of bodice. Stitch neck facing shoulder seams with 3/8'' seam allowance. Trim down bulk of seam allowance. Finish raw edge with serger finish or zig-zag stitch. Press shoulder seams forward, stitch finish raw edge of neck facing. Trim 3/4 inch from bottom of seam allowance (removing bulk for folding hem).

Signature Box Top - Stitching Center Front Seam

Place bodice front pieces right side together. Make sure notches are marked (center front notches, and neckline opening notch). Center front notch marked at hem: Connect notches with ruler to create guide for stitch line. Pin along center front seam allowance as needed. Pin at neck opening as a friendly reminder to end your stitch. Stitch center front, begin at bottom of center front. Stop stitching at neck opening. Make sure to back tack sufficient amount so opening is strong (I back tack 3-4 stitches and back tack 2-3 times). Press center hem seam flat Press center front seam open....
